Museo Diocesano di Salerno
The Museo Diocesano of Salerno preserves and enhances the artistic and religious heritage of the diocese, offering a journey through centuries of history, faith and culture. The museum tells the story the evolution of the Christian tradition in the Salerno area through works of art, sacred furnishings and testimonies of great historical and spiritual value.
The collections include paintings, sculptures, manuscripts, liturgical objects and sacred fabrics, coming from churches, monasteries and ecclesiastical institutions of the diocese . The exhibition itinerary allows us to grasp the central role of the Church in the cultural and social life of the city and its territory.
Today the Diocesan Museum represents a place of protection, study and dissemination , open to visitors, schools and scholars, and constitutes a point of reference for the knowledge of the sacred art and religious history of Salerno .
